Wie Belfagor über die Alpen kam

In 2020, I was awarded the Sculpture Prize by the City of Ebersberg, a small town north of Munich, Germany. This included a show at the Kunstverein curated by Geraldine Frisch, as well as an exhibition of the work in public space.

As in other projects, I created a narrative around the sculpture. I also liked the idea that this would be just the beginning of the story, and that the statue, despite being immobile and heavy, would move from place to place in the future. For the moment, it is still located near the Kunstverein Ebersberg.

‘Wie Belfagor über die Alpen kam...' (How Belfagor Crossed the Alps) documents the statue's journey from its place of origin in Veneto, Italy, to Ebersberg in Bavaria. It also illustrates the significance of Veneto to me in terms of craftsmanship and cultural influence.

The next episode might be called 'Wie Belfagor den Lockdown überlebte' (How Belfagor survived the lockdown). It was a very challenging time, all in all.
